Doubles Teams can be two mixed gender or same gender people playing in the Decatur Indoor Pickleball League. This is 7 weeks of regular season play then 2 weeks of playoffs.
Teams will register for their skill Division Day and chose a specific Time Slot to play each week. There are 8 teams in each GROUP -- per time slot (hour) .
$90 per player.
• Low Intermediate (3.1-3.5) Division: Tuesdays 6pm (Group A) or 7pm (Group B)
• Recreation (2.6-3.0) Division: Wednesdays 6pm (Group A) or 7pm (Group B)
Each week teams play best of 5 games to determine winner for the match that week. Each game will be to 11 win by 1 point. After each game teams switch sides until 5th game whereas teams switch sides when one team reaches 6 points. Each team is allowed one timeout per game.
Scores are recorded on Decatur Pickleball mobile app. Players can actually enter their game scores as well as the organizer, Coach Anne Clarke, aka Pickleball Queen.
There are multiple Groups of 8 Teams playing in each skill Division, so a seven week regular season. The top 4 teams in each Group will go to Group Playoffs to determine a Group Winner and Seeding for the Divisional Playoffs.
Ties in standings will broke by total game wins then head-to-head play. Playoffs will be played best of 3 games to 11; win by 2 points. Single elimination format. Group Winner will be awarded medals (bronze) while the DIVISION Winners are awarded 1st (gold) and 2nd place (silver).
Choice of serve or side is determined on the court except during playoffs where the higher seed has choice of serve or side to start the match.
USAPA rulebook will be used: https://usapickleball.org/docs/ifp/USAPA-Rulebook.pdf Matches will self-umpire. Disputes will be settled by Section 6 D3-D13 in USAPA rules.
Substitutions for missing players can be made during regular season. You can reach out to players in your Division through the MEMBERS section of the Decatur Pickleball Club to request subs Teams cannot* substitute during playoffs. If an injury/illness occurs before playoff game, team *can use a substitute that played during regular season.
Make up matches will be handled by individual teams who can find a time and place to play their match before the last regular season matches are played. Forfeits will be scored 11-0 in each game as a win for the non-forfeiting team.
